ABOUT US

Nestled in the heart of Spokane’s West Central neighborhood, the Listening Room at Hamilton Studio is a live music venue unlike any other — a place where sound, space, and story converge. We are a performance space born from a working film and photography studio, offering a concert experience that is acoustically rich, visually stunning, and deeply personal. We are The Room Where It Happens.
The building dates back to the early 1900s when it served as the auditorium for St. Joseph’s Catholic School. Though the school closed in 1969, many original features — including the hardwood floors and stage — remain, preserved through time. Listed on the Spokane Register of Historic Places, the space has long carried creative energy in its bones.
In the 1980s, photographer and filmmaker Don Hamilton purchased the building and transformed it into Hamilton Studio— a full-scale production studio complete with a 30x30 cyclorama and sound-treated interior. While designing the space, Don discovered he had inadvertently created something magical: a room with near-perfect acoustics.
On New Year’s Day of 2024, that discovery was fully realized when Hamilton Studio officially opened its doors as The Listening Room — a concert venue dedicated to authentic, unfiltered connection between artists and audience.
